About the Pharmacy Directory
Pharmacies should provide bilingual container labels and bilingual patient information sheets to limited English proficient patients. Medication counseling should be provided in the patient's language by a bilingual pharmacist or trained interpreter. In addition, systems should be in place to inform patients that bilingual services are available and to alert pharmacists regarding patients that may need translated information. Unfortunately, the technology to meet all these conditions is not readily available, so far now, we have included pharmacies in this directory that meet a more basic standard for language access services including:
- Signs notifying patients about the availability of free language assistance services
- Ability to provide medication counseling to LEP patients in their own language, either by a bilingual pharmacist or a trained interpreter - in person or over the phone.
Currently, the site includes pharmacies that provide services in the following languages:
- Spanish
- Russian
- Chinese
- Arabic
- Bengali
- Urdu
- Korean
This directory is not intended as an advertisement or an endorsement of the pharmacies listed here, nor does it certify full compliance with federal and local language access laws. It is provided as a starting point when looking for pharmacy services in languages other than English. The pharmacies listed here have agreed to be included in this directory under these terms.
